I spent an afternoon sealing the shower tray, then fixing bicycles. I put a new tube on my son's race bike, fixed the puncture in the old tube then sorted my mountain bike, getting the old front tyre off it, taking off the back and getting the tyre off that for the front and sticking on a new back wheel and tyre.

I still haven't got the Morini yet, been busy.

Met some really nice people yesterday...was finding it hard to spend any time at all in livingroom and couldn`t settle on sofa....so thought room needed a change (bad memories etc).

So looked on ebay and got myself a bargain. The couple I bought it from got a van and delivered it for next to nothing and even took the old one to the tip for me... :). A really lovely lady.....told me all about her husbands trike project ....(didn`t let on that I`m not keen on trikes).

Cliffs fav college lad came round. He`d been working for a catering company over christmas (waitering) but lately has been doing Silver Service round various racetracks.....The exciting bit is that there`s word that he may be up for an apprenticeship with one of the teams....He said it was all thanks to Cliff...I`m thrilled to bits :)

I told him all about getting a plaque for Cliffy and was on waiting list for a wooden bench.....he said I wasn`t to get one as he`s running a marathon to get one........

So all in all a day spent with nice people and didn`t open or have to reply to any poxy offical letters or people.... :)

I've just said bye-bye to our StarFireBird - she dropped in to see me for a couple of days rest and recuperation on her way home from the BSAOC Camp.
I thought it best to escort her to the M25 rather than try and navigate her way out.
Not that it's difficult, just really boring, unless you take the scenic route.
So we went via Hainault, Grange Hill, Chigwell, and Theydon Bois, taking in a nice chunk of Epping Forest - much nicer than the North Circular or M11.

Time for a bowl of Chilli and a glass of wine.
Gus

I could agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

Just got back from Cromford, had a bloody excellent weekend. Nearly got drowned friday night, but once my gear was set up and I'd had a cup of tea I was OK. By saturday afternoon it was lovely, in the evening the fairground was running until late. It was a brilliant sight, several showmans traction engines plus steam driven gallopers, all lit up. Today I had a little run to Heage windmill where there were some rather tasty bikes and morgan 3 wheelers. Rode the 400 home, then went back with Dad in the car to pick up the bantams. I dropped the needle in the racer, and it runs lovely now-65 down a slight hill wide open. Cruises at 60, but seems to run out of revs above 6000, so more work needed but I'm very pleased.

A very pleasant, relaxing weekend it was too - just the thing after being led astray by the BSAOC and drinking too much, staying up too late and getting up too early. I kept nodding off though........

The scenic route to the M25 got me in the right frame of mind for the ride back - I hadn't been looking forward to it because I was so achy and tired but it turned out to be just the right time to hit the M25 (not much traffic). I stopped at Toddington services, asked the AA man to watch my luggage while I went to the loo, then had a long chat with him about AA BSA outfits, rebuilding Triumph engines and lots of other bike stuff. I then went to fill the bike up and ended up chatting with a couple of blokes who were on their way back from an Alpine tour. I remembered to give them Classic Bike Forum cards - one of them has a B31 and various other projects.

I also handed out lots of the cards at the BSA do so hopefully there will be some interest there.
